What is PicoWay?
PicoWay is an advanced 4-in-1 laser technology that uses ultra-short picosecond pulses, lasting around one-trillionth of a second each. The PicoWay laser uses photo-acoustic energy to treat wrinkles, acne scars, dark spots, and break up unwanted pigmentation in the skin, including ink from tattoos.
What conditions can be treated with PicoWay?
Wrinkles & Signs of Aging
Volume loss due to age and repeated contractions of facial muscles are the two most common causes of wrinkles. Both types occur due to collagen loss. The PicoWay laser is effective in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles due to its ability to stimulate collagen and elastin production. PicoWay is also effective in reducing the appearance of age spots.
Dark Spots & Pigmented Lesions
Dark spots such as freckles, liver spots, and melasma (especially after pregnancy) are all common forms of benign variations in skin pigmentation. The powerful PicoWay laser is strong enough to penetrate its energy beneath the skin without injury, breaking up the pigmentation and restoring even tone to the skin’s surface.
Tattoo Removal for All Colors and Types
Traditional laser tattoo removal delivers a constant beam of energy to eliminate the pigment. It’s often difficult for patients to tolerate and requires many treatments over time. Because of the higher energy delivered by the PicoWay laser, these treatments are more effective in breaking up pigments, resulting in more effective treatments and fewer visits required for removal.
Acne Scars & Skin Irregularities
Acne scars result from collagen loss in the skin and are oftentimes difficult to treat. The PicoWay laser stimulates the production of collagen and elastin in the skin without breaking the surface. Patients experience a high rate of satisfaction with using the PicoWay laser to treat acne scars.
What to Expect
PicoWay treatments last around 20 minutes each and are usually given every 4-6 weeks. The number of treatments we will recommend varies based on your condition and goals. The sensation of the laser feels like a small rubber band snapping the skin—while some patients do experience discomfort, the PicoWay laser is better tolerated by patients than other laser treatments. After your treatment, we will apply a calming cream to the skin.
